The Early Years
Starting in the late 1940s and operating mostly out of his home, Don Pound created portraits and commercial photographs. Some of his outside work included construction photos of what eventually became the Newark Air Force Base.

During the 1950s, Don purchased Mueller Studios, which included the Newark Arcade location. His staff consisted of an oil colorist and a black-and-white darkroom technician. Ten years later, Don Pound Studio moved to its current location at 13 W. Main Street

Growth and Change
The 1960s and ‘70s saw rapid change in the photographic industry. New technologies, advances in film and printing, and improved equipment allowed Don Pound Studio to do more than ever, especially with color photos. In fact, there were several years when the studio could photograph three weddings simultaneously!
